INSPIRATION:
Mixed metal that has that fine, aged look is one of my favorite combinations!
I always dreamed about finding old Roman coins long buried and forgotten. Something about distorted metal that aged with a warm patina makes my heart beat faster. These earrings are great for everyday...dressed up or down. They are a great size, catch the light just right and make you want to seek out an old, old library with a snifter of something tasty while reading about what life was like before all this technology arrived on the scene.
HOW ITS MADE:
Sheet metal that looks pristine is beaten with a variety of textures and hammers that I've been collecting for years. I punch it out, texturize and form it, then age it for about 6 hours in a bath of liver of sulfur and a variety of tumbling media. I pin and rivet the discs and add my very sturdy and reliable ear wire for a long-lasting earring. These will not wear out during your lifetime, and would probably last many years under the dirt.
MEASUREMENTS:
Total length is 1.50 inches. Dangle length is about an inch.
Width is about 1/2 of an inch...a little more or less depending on the way I hammer it at the time.
